In the interest of fairness, RSABI will maintain their strict policy on the type of bicycle used. This has been deemed a mountain bike stage and as such, only mountain bikes shall be eligible. These are defined as bikes with wheel sizes of between 26” and 29” with a minimum tyre width of 1.6”. No other style of bike shall be eligible.
The tyre size can be found on the side of the tyre, it may be printed or moulded into the tyre. The first number is the diameter, and the second number states the width. e.g. 29 x 2.25”
For the alleviation of any doubt, the following bikes are NOT permitted: Gravel bikes
Road bikes (including flat bar road bikes)
Cyclocross bikes
Any bike featuring drop handlebars
E-bikes or any bike fitted with an electric motor / power assistance.
The course includes a mixture of canal path, singletrack, fire road and tarmac, front suspension is recommended but not compulsory. All competitors consent to having their bike reviewed prior to competing by event staff. Any bike found to not meet the criteria shall not have their times recorded and therefore will not contribute to the team’s overall scoring.
