Scottish agricultural charity RSABI has launched its summer match funding appeal, giving supporters the opportunity to double the impact of their donations while celebrating 25 years of its confidential helpline.

The charity’s £25k for 25 Years – Double the Difference campaign aims to raise £50,000 to help fund its practical, emotional and financial support services for people across Scotland’s farming community.

The appeal has already got off to a strong start, with more than £8,000 raised so far. Early support has come from individuals and organisations inspired by the campaign, including a £500 donation from Dunfermline Rotary Club, £500 donated by the Campbell family in place of wedding favours for their daughter’s wedding, and more than £700 raised through a collection at the funeral of Jessie MacIntyre, organised by her daughter, Iona.

With donations continuing to be matched up to a total of £25,000, there is still plenty of opportunity for supporters to double their impact.

The campaign marks 25 years since RSABI’s confidential helpline was launched, providing a vital lifeline for thousands of people working in Scottish agriculture who have needed support through difficult times.

Funds raised will help the charity continue delivering its range of services for people in Scottish agriculture, including its free 24-hour helpline, practical and financial assistance, counselling and a wide range of wellbeing initiatives.

Pauline Macmillan, Head of Fundraising at RSABI, said: “As we celebrate 25 years of our confidential helpline, we’re incredibly grateful to our generous anonymous donor for making this match funding campaign possible.

“Their kindness means every donation made before the end of summer will have double the impact, helping us support even more people across Scottish agriculture. We are already well on the way to reaching the 25,000 target following a strong campaign launch at the Royal Highland Show.

“We hope this will inspire new supporters to get behind RSABI so if you’re thinking about donating or fundraising for the charity, now is the perfect time. Every pound you donate will be doubled, giving you the chance to make an even bigger difference to people in farming communities and their families when they need us most.”

Supporters are encouraged to organise their own fundraising activities throughout the summer, with every pound raised through the campaign also eligible for match funding until the £25,000 target is reached. Whether it’s holding a pub quiz, tractor run, a bake sale or simply taking donations at your local agricultural show, every fundraising effort will go twice as far in helping to fund RSABI’s vital services.
