Support following accident, injury or illness

Support following accident, injury or illness

Being involved in an accident, becoming ill and being diagnosed with a long-term or serious health condition can have a huge impact on people’s lives, not just physically but also emotionally.

Very often there is also an impact on the farm business and people’s ability to continue to work in farming and crofting due to the physical demands of the industry.

RSABI helps many people who have been affected by accident and illness and we tailor the support we offer depending on individual circumstances. Many people will need a combination of financial, emotional and practical support to help move forward.

Some people will need some short-term support to see through them an illness, or injury following an accident, and for others the support will be longer-term.

Here are some of the ways we can help you if you’ve been affected by an accident or illness:

  • Emotional support through our 24-hour Freephone Helpline – 0808 1234 555 – or using our confidential webchat
  • A regular call from one of the team to support you through a difficult time
  • Counselling if you’re struggling with your mental wellbeing
  • Short-term financial support to cover essential costs such as food and heating
  • If you’re no longer able to work and are on a low income you may qualify for a regular payment from RSABI
  • Guidance on employment issues and benefits you may be entitled to
  • Help to access a business review to help plan a way forward for your business
  • A re-training grant if you’re no longer able to work on the land
