Help Make a Difference by Fundraising for RSABI

Thank EWE for choosing to support RSABI! There are many ways you can raise funds for us and help us continue to provide our vital support to people in Scottish Agriculture.

Get inspired and see what EWE can do with our Fundraising Toolkit

There are many ways you can support us:

You can visit our events page where you can see our RSABI events that you can take part in, and some events that you can sign up to yourself and still raise money for RSABI.
You could choose your own fundraising challenge – recently that has included driving to the Sahara and back and climbing Mount Bennachie 17 times.
You could host your own event from an auction to stockjudging and everything in between.
You could ask for donations in lieu of Birthday, Wedding or Retirement Gifts.

Fundraising A - Z

Create a fundraising website

With Justgiving, you can create a fundraising page by signing up or logging in, selecting that you are hosting an event or taking part in a fundraising challenge, and then selecting RSABI as your charity of choice.

You can collect donations online, with an easy link to share and you can also show a totaliser for your fundraising. You can also generate a QR code which links to your page and can be displayed on posters and flyers.

Offline donations – funds collected through ticket sales or cheque donations, for example – can be added at any time.

Cash Collection

There is potential to increase collections by 25% via HMRC’s “Small Donations Scheme”

Any cash collections should be counted in the presence of two persons. A breakdown of the total by denomination of coins or notes should be recorded and forwarded to RSABI. Any cheques should be separately counted.

It would be helpful if confirmation could be made to RSABI that no individual has donated more than £30. If there are any such payments by individuals, please inform RSABI of the amounts.

Ticket Sales Using Eventbrite

Eventbrite is worth considering as a central point to direct people to buy tickets for your event. It is free for you to set up.

You can select how many tickets you would like to sell online. Your attendees enter their requirements themselves and you can download this information at any time. E-tickets are issued.

All monies collected by Eventbrite will be paid directly to you. These can then be transferred into our bank account with a notification sent to us. In certain cases, RSABI may be able to host your event on our own Eventbrite page.

Gift Aid Envelopes

We can provide Gift Aid Envelopes to collect donations at your event, with the potential to claim an additional 25% on donations from HMRC by the charity.

Gift Aid can be claimed on these donations if the gift aid box is ticked and a name, first line of address and postcode is provided by the donor.

Envelopes should be opened in the presence of two persons and once opened the amount counted inside should be written on the details side of the envelope.

Envelopes should then be returned to RSABI. A breakdown of the total by denomination of coins or notes would be advantageous.

Sponsorship Forms

RSABI can provide template sponsorship forms which event participants can use to gather donations. This can be downloaded here but do notify us of your activities so that we can help promote them. Email rsabi@rsabi.org.uk if this is something you would like to do.

The name, first line of address and postcode of the participant should be recorded on the form. Where donors decide to include gift aid, there is a requirement for the gift aid box to be ticked and a name, first line of address and postcode to be recorded.

How to Pay your Money In

Thank you for your fantastic fundraising efforts. If you’re ready to pay in your fundraising money you can do so by depositing directly into the RSABI account at any Bank of Scotland branch or by transfer from another UK bank account. A receipt should be forwarded to RSABI. If you have any questions please email rsabi@rsabi.org.uk. Please use an easily identifiable reference and let us know you’ve paid in the funds by emailing rsabi@rsabi.org.uk

Text RSABI to 70450 to donate £10. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message, and you’ll be opting into hearing more from us. If you would like to donate but don’t wish to hear more from us, please text RSABINOINFO instead.

If you would prefer to send a cheque, please ensure your cheque is made payable to RSABI and send to RSABI, The Rural Centre, West Mains of Ingliston, Newbridge, EH28 8LT.
